A guardianship is a special form of legal representation for your child up to the age of 18.

Applying for guardianship
You can apply for guardianship to establish and recognize paternity and to assert and dispose of maintenance claims. There are no costs for you.
The parent who has sole custody or, in the case of shared custody, with whom the child lives, isentitled to apply. A guardian appointed by the parents can also submit this application. You must come to us in person to apply.

- Valid identity card or passport
- Birth certificate of the child
- existing maintenance titles
- custody decisions
- Proof of income
- Proof of other maintenance obligations
