Digital passport photos now directly in the citizen service

Digital passport photos now available at the Citizens' Service

Digital passport photos can now be taken directly at the Citizens' Service as part of your application for an ID card or passport. It is no longer necessary to take a digital passport photo in advance of your appointment and it is also no longer possible at the Citizens' Service. Alternatively, you can have digital passport photos taken by authorized photo service providers.

You will need digital passport photos if you want to apply for a new ID card or passport. Self-made photos, photos from photo booths or passport photos from photo apps and generally printed passport photos are no longer permitted since 01.05.2025.

Taking a digital passport photo currently costs €6.00 at the Citizens' Service.
