Extending a resident parking permit

Renew online

You can apply to renew your existing and still valid resident parking permit in person or online.

If your existing resident parking permit has already expired, you must apply for a new resident parking permit.

The duration of the resident parking permit is usually one year. You should renew it in good time. You will then receive a new permit at the same time as the expiring one, the validity of which begins when the old permit expires. The old permit does not have to be handed in in this context.

When applying online for an extension, please ensure that the applicant is the holder of the resident parking permit.

Note on data entry for online renewal: The distinguishing letter of the respective zone must be entered in the "Parking permit number" field, followed by the digits without spaces, for example W0141.

We recommend submitting the application approx. 3-4 weeks before the old permit expires. An extension is possible at the earliest 1 month before the current parking permit expires.

  • Identification document - Not applicable when applying via the Internet. The identification document is sent to the vehicle owner registered with the Federal Motor Transport Authority or the user of the vehicle - see Authorization of use.
  • Registration certificate part I
  • If applicable, authorization of use of the vehicle owner - If you are applying for a resident parking permit for a vehicle for which you are not also the owner, you will need a written authorization of use from the vehicle owner.
  • If applicable, a written power of attorney - If you authorize a third party to apply for the resident parking permit, they will need a written power of attorney from you.
  • Form of proof for online applications - You can send us the proof by post following your online application or scan it and send it as a file to kfz@jena.de.

Document Pickup - No Appointment Required

You can pick up documents that you have already applied for and are now ready for pickup (passports, ID cards, eID cards, and documents from the driver’s license office) at the front desk during business hours without an appointment.

Other Matters Requiring an Appointment

If you need to visit in person for other matters, you must schedule an appointment. You can do this online or by phone.
