Health card
Persons who commercially produce, handle or place food on the market in accordance with Section 43 (1) IfSG (Infection Protection Act) require instruction and certification from the public health department.
Details
The Infection Protection Act (IfSG) prescribes instruction by the public health department for persons who
- handle food on a professional basis and come into contact with food during these activities
- work in kitchens and other facilities in the context of communal catering.
One of the above-mentioned activities may only be undertaken for the first time after instruction by the public health department. This activity must be commenced within 3 months of the instruction.
Procedure / deadlines
The training sessions are generally organized as group training sessions.
The dates take place in fixed blocks, usually on Mondays at 09:00,
and Thursdays at 15:00 and 16:00.
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the appointment.
- The duration of the instruction is approx. 45 minutes.
- The health card will be handed out immediately after the instruction.
Documents
- Valid identity card or passport
- Non-EU citizens: valid work permit
- For persons who have not yet reached the age of 18 or who do not or do not yet have full legal capacity (minors), a written declaration of consent from their legal guardian(s) is required.
- Persons with insufficient knowledge of German require an interpreter to translate the main content

Please note that fees can only be paid by debit or credit card at the Health Department. Cash can only be paid in via the cash machines in the Citizens' Services or Fire Service departments.
