Help with outpatient care

Outpatient care assistance benefits are granted to enable people in need of care to live as independently and self-determinedly as possible in their own home environment, despite their need for assistance, in accordance with the dignity of the individual.

Avoiding full inpatient care

In order to avoid full inpatient care, suitable measures such as care benefits in kind, care allowance, care aids as well as day, night and short-term care are granted. In addition, allowances can be granted and the expenses of the carers can be reimbursed.

Assistance for inpatient care

Inpatient care assistance covers general care services (nursing, social care, treatment care) as well as accommodation and meals in a retirement home.

Requirements

Persons with a considerable need for inpatient nursing care who receive nursing care insurance benefits but who cannot cover the costs of nursing home care because of the statutory limits on the amount of nursing care insurance benefits are entitled to this benefit. Persons who are not insured for long-term care and who have a considerable need for inpatient care are also eligible.

• Cost estimate for nursing service (only when applying for care benefits in kind)
• Documents on voluntary health and nursing care insurance (health insurance chip card), private insurance or compulsory insurance
• Identity card
• Tenancy agreement / subtenancy agreement (only when applying for care benefits in kind)
• Current housing subsidy notice
• Notice of receipt of basic income support in old age and in case of reduced earning capacity
• Pension statement(s)
• Severely disabled person's certificate including notice
• Notice of war victim's pension
• Classification of the nursing care insurance
• Declaration of consent to request MDK expert opinion
• Guardianship certificate or power of attorney for precautionary measures
• Bank statements of the last 3 months from the current account (without gaps)
• Documents on financial circumstances (savings book, current account statement of the building society contract as well as date of earliest possible payment, securities and similar, death benefit insurance)
• Insurance documents (life insurance with surrender value, household insurance, liability insurance)
