HIV test / AIDS counseling
During consultation hours, the Jena Health Department offers advice and, if necessary, tests for HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and STIs (other sexually transmitted diseases, such as lues and hepatitis C).
Free and anonymous HIV testing is possible. If you would like a certified HIV test, this is subject to a fee.
Details
An HIV test can be carried out at the earliest 6 weeks after the last possible exposure to HIV, as this is the only way to expect a reliable result.
HIV rapid tests or HIV home tests are not offered.
Procedure / deadlines
- A confidential consultation always takes place prior to HIV testing.
- The CMIA antibody screening test can only be carried out after 6 weeks of possible HIV exposure.
- The test result is usually available after one week.
- In the case of the free, anonymous HIV test, the result is only presented for inspection.
- The certificate of the fee-based, certified HIV test is handed out.
