Online registration processes (i-Kfz)

This service allows you to apply for all common vehicle registrations and deregistrations from the comfort of your own home without having to visit your registration office.

How does it work?
  • With the help of a few details, you fill out the online application and save it.
  • You then go to the checkout and pay the fees online.
  • Under certain conditions, you can then carry out the process directly in the portal with immediate effect by retrieving your online notification. The online notification is a PDF file that you can openwith Acrobat Reader TM.
  • If it is a registration process, please print out the online notification and attach it to your Part I registration certificate. This entitles you to "drive off immediately" within Germany for a maximum of 10 days or until you have received mail from your authority.

In any case, you will receive mail from the registration authority after approx. 3-5 working days. The mail contains all necessary documents and papers. Please take into account that any required license plates must be obtained by you from a certified plate embossing company.

Basic requirement

Online new registration of non-motorised vehicles such as trailers etc. is therefore not usually possible; the document is usually not available online for these vehicles.
