Municipal archives - information and consultation

Use of the municipal archives can take the form of a written request or directly on site. When using the archives in person, you can ask for advice and receive tips on relevant finding aids or sources.

On your first visit to the Municipal Archives, you will fill out a request for use, which includes information about yourself and the research topic you plan to pursue.

The archivists will advise you on your topic by presenting you with suitable literature and finding aids and by giving you information about the archive holdings. With the help of finding aids you can search for and order yourself the records that are important for your subject area.

Information on genealogical enquiries can be found under family research. Information on the holdings of the municipal archive can be found in the archive portal Thuringia (-> Links).
