Name change - official
Vor- und Familiennamensänderungen können bei der Stadtverwaltung Jena beantragt werden. Dies können alle deutschen Staatsangehörigen beantragen, die in Jena mit Haupt- oder Nebenwohnung gemeldet sind.
Sie können Ihren Namen nur dann ändern lassen, wenn ein wichtiger Grund vorliegt, der in Ihrem Fall zu einer unzumutbaren Beeinträchtigung Ihrer Persönlichkeitsrechte führt und wenn keine entgegengesetzten Interessen anderer Beteiligter und des Staates an der Namensänderung überwiegen.

- Application with detailed justification
- Personal documents (identity card or passport)
- certified copy of the birth record (available from your birth registry office)
- certificate of good conduct from the Federal Central Register
- Current proof of income
- certified copy of the family register for persons who are or were married

Gebühren

If the name change is refused or withdrawn, 1/10 to 1/2 of this fee will be assessed. The amount of the fee is determined according to § 3 para. 1 of the First Regulation for the Implementation of the Law on the Change of Surnames and First Names (1.NamÄndDV).

According to § 9 para. 1 of the Administrative Costs Act (VwKostG), the following are to be taken into account when determining fees
- the administrative expense connected with the official act
- the importance, the economic value or the other benefit of the official act for the person liable to pay the fee, as well as his economic circumstances.
If a fee reduction is applied for, the applicant's income situation must be proven.
