Volunteering – Promoting voluntary work
The City of Jena also receives an annual grant from the Thuringian Volunteer Foundation, which it distributes – with the assistance of the City’s Volunteer Advisory Board – to the many different associations, citizens’ initiatives and other organisations engaged in charitable work in Jena, upon their application.
Applications for project funding to support voluntary work can be submitted until 31 March 2027 using the application form (PDF).
Special Funding for Volunteering
In 2027, a special funding scheme for voluntary work will be implemented once again. Further information on this will be available here shortly.

Volunteering Advisory Board decides on the allocation of funds
In accordance with the funding principles of the Thuringian Volunteer Foundation, the funds granted are intended to promote and recognise voluntary work. Based on these principles, the City of Jena’s Volunteer Advisory Board decides whether and to what extent the applications submitted will be considered.
