Register a business
If you start the independent operation of a standing business, a branch or a dependent branch office, you must register this with the trade authority at the same time.
The official confirmation of this registration is also known colloquially as a "trade license".
Documents
- Identity card or passport with current registration certificate
- if registered in the commercial register: the current extract from the commercial register
- for activities requiring a license: Presentation of the permit
- for craft activities: craft card (registration with the Chamber of Crafts)
- for non-EU foreigners: Proof of residence permit
- when exercising a trade requiring supervision(§ 38 GewO):
- Certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority -> application at the Citizen Service Center
- Extract from the central trade register -> application when registering a business
