Commercial / industrial wastewater - discharge
The discharge of commercial / industrial wastewater into a body of water (direct discharge) or into a public wastewater system (indirect discharge) from areas of origin covered by the German Wastewater Ordinance (AbwV) requires a permit or approval from the lower water authority.

For the discharge of wastewater from the areas of origin listed in
- Annex 49 of the AbwV - "Waste water containing mineral oil"
- Annex 50 of the AbwV - "Dental treatment" (amalgam separators)
- Annex 52 of the AbwV - "Chemical cleaning"
- Annex 53 of the AbwV - "Photographic processes"
- and from wastewater systems approved under building law
into the public sewer system, the application for a permit under water law can be replaced by a notification to the water authority under certain conditions.
