Re-register vehicles to Jena

When moving within Germany, the vehicle owner must notify the competent registration authority (main residence or place of business) of the change of residence and have the vehicle documents changed.

The buyer of a registered vehicle is obliged to register or deregister the vehicle immediately.

For vehicles that are still registered, it is now possible to retain the license plate number nationwide even if the owner changes. For vehicles that have already been deregistered, a new license plate must be issued by the responsible registration authority.

• Registration certificate Part I and Part II or vehicle registration certificate and vehicle registration document
• Previous license plates if the vehicle is registered and a new or different license plate is to be assigned
• Certificates of the still valid general inspection (original)
• Electronic insurance confirmation (eVB, formerly insurance duplicate card)
• SEPA direct debit mandate
• General documents relating to the vehicle owner (see Downloads)
• if applicable, declaration on the use of the business address for the registration of vehicles for sole proprietorships and self-employed persons (see Downloads)
• If applicable, notification of special vehicle use, e.g. as a cab or rental vehicle (see downloads)

Please note that in the case of an existing short-term registration for the vehicle, the vehicle registration certificate for short-term license plates and the license plates must be submitted for validation.

The registration authority uses special adhesive seals with special security features for the vehicle documents. This increases the total fees by € 0.30 per adhesive seal used.
