Driving license for passenger transport - renewal

Prerequisites

You have your main residence in Jena.

Application

It is not possible to apply by proxy, as the card driver's license contains your signature, which must be provided at the time of application. You do not have to fill out an application form. It will be prepared by us and simply signed by you.

If you reach the age of 60 within the next 5 years, the extension is only possible up to this point. An extension beyond the age of 60 can only be granted if a performance psychology report is provided. When submitting your application, you must declare which body you wish to commission to prepare the psychological assessment. Once your application documents have been checked, the driving license authority will commission the expert opinion.

• The passenger transport driver's license is issued for a period of no more than five years.
• If it is not possible to enter the renewal endorsement, a new passenger transport license will be issued.
• The application may be submitted at the earliest 6 months before the expiry date of the previous passenger transport driver's license.

• Passport or identity card
• Driver's license: If the existing driver's license was not issued by the city of Jena, a copy of the file card from the foreign driver's license authority that issued the driver's license is required. Please request the file card copy yourself from the relevant driving license authority and have it sent directly to us or sent by fax. If you still have an old driving license (grey/pink), you must also apply to exchange it for the new card driving license when you apply for a driving license for passenger transport. In this case, please note the information on "Exchange for the EU card driver's license".
• Proof of sufficient eyesight: Proof by means of an expert opinion or certificate from an ophthalmologist or a company/occupational physician - an expert opinion/certificate issued is valid for two years
• Proof of medical fitness: Proof must be provided in the form of a certificate from a doctor of your choice, taking into account Annex 5 of the Driving License Ordinance. The certificate must not be older than one year at the time of application. The form to be completed by the doctor is available under Downloads.
• A performance psychology report is required for the renewal of a passenger transport license from the age of 60. The examination includes, for example, a check of your ability to cope with stress, ability to react, orientation and ability to concentrate. Proof of compliance with these special requirements is provided by an expert opinion from an officially recognized assessment body for driving fitness. This report must be submitted to the driving license authority and can be prepared in advance. The certificate must not be older than 1 year at the time of application.
• An official certificate of good conduct (document type "O") must be applied for in person by the applicant, stating the purpose of use "Extension of passenger transport", at the registration office responsible for his/her main place of residence (in Jena also when applying at the driving license authority).
