Adoption mediation

Adoption mediation is provided for a child who has been abandoned or whose parents are unable to care for the child and are unable or unwilling to assume parental responsibility, even if they make use of child-rearing assistance.

Adoption is a special form of family formation. A wide range of counseling services are provided for relinquishing parents as well as couples and individuals wishing to adopt.

  • Advice and support for relinquishing parents, including after the adoption has taken place and for confidential births
  • Advice, preparation and training for adoptive parent applicants
  • Placement of children in Germany, support and advice for the adoptive family
  • Supporting contacts between the relinquishing and adopting family in the case of open adoption
  • Advice and expert opinion on stepchild, kinship and third-party adoptions
  • Support and advice for adopted children (e.g. help with the search for identity, access to files for adoptees, help and support in the search for birth parents and siblings)
  • Assistance with foreign adoptions
  • Further training and exchange opportunities for adoptive parents/families
  • Support and moderation of the group of adult adoptees

Every adoption must be in the best interests of the child.
