Help with care
Social assistance benefits can be granted if the extent of the need for care has been determined by the Medical Service of the Health Insurance (MDK).
Details
Help with outpatient care
Outpatient care assistance is provided to enable people in need of care to live as independently and self-determined a life as possible in their own home environment, in keeping with their dignity, despite their need for assistance.
Avoiding full inpatient care
Suitable measures such as care benefits in kind, care allowance, care aids as well as day, night and short-term care are granted in order to avoid full inpatient care. Allowances can also be granted and the expenses of carers reimbursed.
Assistance for inpatient care
Assistance for inpatient care includes general care services (nursing care, social care, treatment care) as well as accommodation and meals in a retirement home.
Eligibility requirements
Persons with a considerable need for inpatient care who receive long-term care insurance benefits but are unable to cover the costs of the home due to the statutory limits on long-term care insurance benefits are eligible. Persons who are not covered by long-term care insurance and who require considerable and inpatient care are also eligible.
