Register campfire

Bonfires may only be held if the conditions of § 18 of the "Ordnungsbehördliche Verordnung zur Aufrechterhaltung der öffentlichen Sicherheit und Ordnung in der Stadt Jena" are complied with. This includes

• The burning of tree and shrub cuttings and leaves is prohibited.
• Only natural, dry wood that has been stored for at least 2 years may be used.
• The base area of the bonfire must not exceed 3 m².
• Suitable measures must be taken to prevent the fire from spreading.
• The fire must be supervised at all times by a person of legal age.
• The complete extinguishing of the fire must be ensured and monitored.
• The fire protection conditions must be observed.
• It is forbidden to burn a campfire in the forest or at a distance of less than 100 m from the forest.

Violations constitute an administrative offense and can be punished with a fine of up to € 2,500.

Private campfires are prohibited from forest fire danger level 4.

The notification must be received by the Environmental Protection Department at least 3 days before the planned campfire date.
