Register campfire

Bonfires may only be held if the conditions of § 18 of the "Ordnungsbehördliche Verordnung zur Aufrechterhaltung der öffentlichen Sicherheit und Ordnung in der Stadt Jena" are observed. This includes:

• The burning of tree and shrub cuttings as well as foliage is prohibited.
• Only natural, dry wood that has been stored for at least 2 years may be used.
• The surface area of the bonfire must not exceed 3 m².
• The fireplace is to be secured by suitable measures against the spreading of the fire.
• The fire must be supervised at all times by a person of legal age.
• The complete extinguishing of the fire is to be guaranteed and controlled.
• The fire protection conditions are to be observed.
• It is forbidden to burn a bonfire in the forest or in a distance of less than 100 m from the forest.

Violations constitute an administrative offence and can be punished with a fine of up to € 2,500.

The notification must be received by the Environmental Protection Department at least 3 days prior to the scheduled bonfire date.
