Procedural guide - advice on integration assistance services

The procedure guide supports and accompanies young people with disabilities and their families free of charge and independently with the

  • realization

rights to integration assistance benefits.

People who are significantly restricted in their ability to participate in society due to a disability or are at risk of such a significant disability receive integration assistance benefits.

Since 01.01.2024, Section 10b SGB VIII has provided for the function of a so-called "procedure pilot" nationwide. This person can support and accompany families when integration assistance benefits are being considered.

Advice can be provided in person, by telephone, as a video conference or at home or in the educational institution.

The support can include

  • Explanation of the eligibility requirements
  • Clarification of the factual and local responsibility for the assistance required
  • Clarification of other responsible service providers
  • Help with the application process
  • Support during the administrative procedure
  • Determination of decision deadlines
  • Information on opinions and expert reports
  • Help with the fulfillment of obligations to cooperate
  • Help with claiming benefits
  • Accompaniment to service providers and other assistance options
  • Accompaniment to participation and overall plan discussions as a person of trust

Parents often submit applications for possible assistance for their child, such as early intervention, an integrative place in a kindergarten, sensory-specific support, school support or placement in residential care.

Applications for integration assistance services are processed at the Jena Youth Welfare Office in the Integration Service, Am Anger 13, 07743 Jena.

According to Section 10b para. 1 sentence 1 SGB VIII, young people who claim integration assistance benefits due to a disability or the threat of a disability, or who are eligible for such benefits, as well as their mothers, fathers, guardians and legal guardians, are entitled to support and assistance from a procedural guide when applying for, pursuing and receiving these benefits.
