Re-registering Vehicles in Jena
If you would like to transfer ownership of a vehicle within Jena, you can also apply for thisonline.
If you simply want to have changes to your personal information or the company’s information as the vehicle owner—for example, due to a name change or a move within Jena—recorded in the vehicle registration documents, please refer to the article “Change Vehicle Information: Technical or Owner Information.” You can also apply online to change your address alone .
Documents
- Certificate of Registration, Parts I and II, or Vehicle Title and Registration Certificate
- Previous license plate number, if the vehicle is registered and a new or different license plate number is to be assigned
- Certificates of the still-valid general inspection (originals)
- Electronic insurance confirmation (eVB, formerly the insurance double card)
- SEPA direct debit authorization
- General documentation regarding the vehicle owner (see Downloads)
- If applicable, a declaration regarding the use of a business address in connection with vehicle registration for sole proprietorships and self-employed individuals (see Downloads)
- If applicable, notification of special vehicle use, for example as a taxi or rental vehicle (see Downloads)
- If applicable, form for vehicle registration under a civil law partnership (GbR and eGbR) (see Downloads)
Please note that if the vehicle has an existing short-term registration, the vehicle registration certificate for short-term license plates as well as the license plates themselves must be presented for cancellation.

Document Pickup - No Appointment Required
You can pick up documents that have already been requested and are now ready for pickup (passports, ID cards, eID cards, and documents from the driver’s license office) at the front desk during business hours without an appointment.
Other Matters Requiring an Appointment
If you need to visit in person for other matters, you must schedule an appointment. You can do this online or by phone.

The registration authority uses special adhesive seals with specific security features for vehicle documents. This increases the total fees by €0.30 for each adhesive seal used.
