Registration of New Vehicles - Application
You would like to register a new vehicle with German vehicle registration documents.
Details
You have the option to register a new vehicle permanently (until it is deregistered) or as a one-day registration.
One-Day Registration
As a general rule, vehicles are registered or licensed permanently, until the vehicle is deregistered. You now also have the option to apply for the initial registration of a vehicle for a period of exactly one day. This regulation applies only to new vehicles. This new option for the initial registration of a new vehicle is primarily used by automakers and car dealers.
With a one-day registration, there is no need to stamp the license plates. At the end of the day of initial registration, the vehicle is considered out of service without the need for a separate deregistration application. A vehicle with a one-day registration may be operated on public roads for the duration of the registration with the required license plates, without registration stickers or sticker holders. When operating the vehicle on public roads, the person driving the vehicle must display the provisional registration certificate in the vehicle where it is clearly visible from the outside until the end of the day of initial registration.

- If applicable, data confirmation from the manufacturer: In certain cases, a data confirmation from the manufacturer has been completed in lieu of the Certificate of Registration, Part II. Based on this data confirmation, the registration authority then issues Certificate of Registration, Part II. In this case, the vehicle must be presented for initial identification, unless it has already been identified by an officially recognized expert as part of a supplementary or bodywork inspection (see also information on the requirement to present vehicles from abroad).

Hours of Operation
Document Pickup - No Appointment Required
You can pick up documents that have already been requested and are now ready for pickup (passports, ID cards, eID cards, and documents from the driver’s license office) at the front desk during business hours without an appointment.

| Cost of embossing the license plates |
The registration authority uses special adhesive seals with specific security features for the vehicle documents. This increases the total fees by 0.30 € per adhesive seal used.
