Certification of the vehicle

The type approval is a document in which the manufacturer certifies the conformity to an approved type or an officially recognized expert certifies the appraisal of the vehicle.

The registration authority does not issue a new type approval. To do this, you must contact the manufacturer of the vehicle or, if this is unsuccessful, have an officially recognised expert draw up an expert opinion to obtain the operating permit.

In the event of a replacement operating permit being issued by the officially recognised expert, the registration authority will issue the operating permit on the document.

Vehicles with EC type approval, evidenced by the COC certificate, do not require national type approval. If this document is lost, please contact the dealer/manufacturer.

• Vehicle registration document / registration certificate Part I - proof of the allocation of an official number plate
• Form of the replacement operating permit, issued by the manufacturer or the officially recognised expert - the registration authority formally issues the operating permit on this form
• Declaration in lieu of an oath
• Protocol of the last main inspection - if the first inspection was due within the prescribed period

The registration authority uses special adhesive seals with special security features for the vehicle documents. This increases the total fees by € 0.30 per adhesive seal used.
