Notifying facilities with substances hazardous to water (AwSV)
Theownermustnotify the lower water authority in advance ofthe use of substances or materials hazardous to water in a facility.This is prescribed by the Ordinance on Installations Handling Substances Hazardous to Water (AwSV). This regulates the classification of substances and mixtures into water hazard classes.
For example, heating oil, diesel fuel, motor gasoline (petrol), waste oil, liquid manure, slurry and silage seepage are classified as hazardous to water.

When is notification required?
The following measures must be reported to the lower water authority at least 6 weeks in advance:
- Construction or significant modification of one or more facilities for handling substances hazardous to water
- Change in the hazard level according to AwSV
