You may object to the disclosure of your data to the following entities:

• a religious organization under public law to which the person subject to the reporting requirement does not belong, but to which family members of that person belong
• political parties and voter groups in connection with elections and referendums
• elected officials, the press, or broadcast media in connection with milestone birthdays or wedding anniversaries

Objection pursuant to Section 42(3) of the Federal Registration Act and Section 50(5) of the Federal Registration Act

Pursuant to Section 42(3) of the Federal Registration Act and Section 50(5) of the Federal Registration Act, every resident has the right to object to the disclosure of their data accordingly. 

If members of a religious community recognized under public law have family members who do not belong to the same religious community or to any religious community recognized under public law, the registration authority—the Citizen Services Department of the City of Jena—may transmit certain data specified by law regarding these family members to the religious community recognized under public law. An objection to this data transfer is possible pursuant to § 42(3) of the Federal Registration Act.

The registration authority, the Citizen Services Department of the City of Jena, may provide political parties, voter groups, and other sponsors of candidate slates, in connection with elections and referendums at the state and local levels, provide information from the registration records—specifically, data designated by law regarding groups of eligible voters—during the six months preceding the election or referendum, provided that age is a determining factor in the composition of such groups. The dates of birth of eligible voters may not be disclosed in this context. The person or entity to whom the data is transmitted may use it only for campaigning in an election or referendum and must delete or destroy it no later than one month after the election or referendum. An objection to this data transfer is possible pursuant to Section 50(5) of the Federal Registration Act.

If elected officials, the press, or broadcast media request information from the registration records regarding residents’ ages or wedding anniversaries, the registration authority—the Citizen Services Department of the City of Jena—may provide information regarding

1. last name,
2. first names,
3. doctoral degree,
4. address, and
5. the date and type of anniversary.

Milestone birthdays include the 70th birthday, every fifth birthday thereafter, and every birthday after the 100th; wedding anniversaries include the 50th and every subsequent wedding anniversary. You may object to this data transfer in accordance with Section 50(5) of the Federal Registration Act.

Anyone who does not wish to have their data shared may file an objection in writing or on the record with the Citizen Services Department, Citizen Services Team of the City of Jena, Engelplatz 1, 07743 Jena. No fees are charged.

No reason needs to be given. The objection remains valid until revoked. Data transfer restrictions entered as a result of a previous objection will continue to be honored.
