According to the Federal Registration Act, you have the option of objecting to the disclosure of your data in certain cases.

You do not need to provide a reason. The objection is valid until it is revoked. Transmission blocks that were entered on the basis of a previous objection will continue to be taken into account.

To object, you can use the form provided under Downloads or the online application.

You can object to the transfer of data to the following bodies:

  • a religious organization under public law to which the person subject to registration does not belong, but to which family members of the person subject to registration belong
  • Parties, voter groups in connection with elections and votes
  • elected officials, the press or radio on the occasion of anniversaries of retirement or marriage
  • Address book publishers

Objection pursuant to Section 42 (3) of the Federal Registration Act and Section 50 (5) of the Federal Registration Act

Every resident has the right to object to the disclosure of their data in accordance with Section 42 (3) of the Federal Registration Act and Section 50 (5) of the Federal Registration Act.

If members of a public religious organization have family members who do not belong to the same or any public religious organization, the registration authority, the Citizen and Family Service of the City of Jena, may transfer data of these family members to the public religious organization in accordance with the law. An objection to this data transfer is possible in accordance with Section 42 (3) of the Federal Registration Act.

The registration authority, the Citizens' Services Department of the City of Jena, may provide parties, voter groups and other supporters of election proposals in connection with elections and votes at state and municipal level in the six months preceding the election or vote with information from the population register on data specified by law on groups of eligible voters, insofar as their age is decisive for their composition. The dates of birth of eligible voters may not be disclosed. The person or body to whom the data is transmitted may only use it for advertising in an election or vote and must delete or destroy it no later than one month after the election or vote. An objection to this data transfer is possible in accordance with Section 50 (5) of the Federal Registration Act.

If elected representatives, the press or broadcasters request information from the population register about residents' age or marriage anniversaries, the registration authority, the City of Jena's Citizens' Services Department, may provide information about

  1. Surname,
  2. first names,
  3. doctorate,
  4. address and
  5. date and type of anniversary.

Age anniversaries are the 70th birthday, every fifth further birthday and every subsequent birthday from the 100th birthday; marriage anniversaries are the 50th and every subsequent marriage anniversary. An objection to this data transfer is possible in accordance with Section 50 (5) of the Federal Registration Act.

Address book publishers may be provided with information on all residents who have reached the age of 18 about their

  1. family name
  2. first names,
  3. doctor's degree and
  4. current addresses.

The transmitted data may only be used for the publication of address books (address directories in book form). An objection to this data transfer is possible in accordance with § 50 Para. 5 of the Federal Registration Act.

Anyone who does not wish their data to be passed on can lodge an objection in writing or for the record with the Citizens' Services Department, Citizens' Services Team of the City of Jena, Engelplatz 1, 07743 Jena. No costs will be charged.

Document issue - without an appointment

Documents that have already been applied for and are now ready for collection (passport, ID card and eID card as well as documents from the driving license authority) can be collected from reception during opening hours without an appointment.

Other requests with an appointment

An appointment must be booked for personal visits for other matters. This can be done online or by telephone.
