Separation and divorce counseling

Separation and divorce often present parents with the major task of coping well with this completely new life situation in the interests and for the benefit of their children.

Parents receive support in working out arrangements for the important concerns of their children during this often very tense time and thus have the opportunity to counteract an escalation of the situation at an early stage. Parents also have the opportunity to find out how their child is doing in the current separation situation, as children can be involved in the counseling process.

Possible topics in counseling

  • Protection of the child's interests in parental conflict
  • Promoting constructive conflict and crisis management options at parental level
  • Preservation and continuation of joint parental responsibility despite the separation of the parents through an amicable settlement of contact and custody issues
  • initiating/maintaining and organizing contact with both parents and other important caregivers.

The counseling services are free of charge and confidential and are aimed at parents, children, adolescents, young adults (up to the age of 21) and family members residing in Jena.

Advice is given by appointment. Appointments are best made by telephone or e-mail. The family counseling service offers an open consultation hour on Tuesdays from 08:00 to 10:00, during which counseling is possible without an appointment.

As a rule, the family counseling service is also available from Monday to Thursday between 09:00 and 12:00 on the telephone number 0049 3641 49-2833.

An answering machine is available during consultation hours.
