Reporting a suspected or confirmed case of tuberculosis

When a suspected case of tuberculosis or a confirmed case of tuberculosis is reported, the public health department carries out the necessary investigations. For this purpose, information on the source of infection and possible contact persons is recorded. Disease-related education and information is provided.

Contact persons

Contact persons are summoned to the public health department and, if necessary, appropriate tests are ordered. The public health department will carry out tests (blood tests, X-ray diagnostics, sputum examination) to rule out or prove an infection.

Admission to shared accommodation - homeless people, refugees

People who are admitted to shared accommodation (homeless people, refugees) must provide proof that they do not have infectious pulmonary tuberculosis. This is issued by the public health department after an examination.

Certificate for stays abroad

The certificates required for stays abroad to rule out tuberculosis can be issued after a blood test and are subject to a fee.

To carry out the tuberculosis test, it is essential to make an appointment in advance by telephone. The test result is usually available after approx. 1 week. A certificate is issued by the public health department.
