Registering vehicles in Jena
If you would like to have a vehicle registered within Jena with a change of owner, you can also apply online.
If you only wish to have changes to your personal data or the data of the company as the owner of a vehicle, for example due to a change of name or relocation within Jena, entered in the vehicle documents, please go to Change vehicle data: Technical or keeper data. You can also apply online to change your address alone .
Documents
- Registration certificate Part I and Part II or vehicle registration certificate and vehicle registration document
- Previous license plates if the vehicle is registered and a new or different license plate is to be assigned
- Certificates of the still valid general inspection (original)
- Electronic insurance confirmation (eVB, formerly insurance duplicate card)
- SEPA direct debit mandate
- General documents relating to the vehicle owner (see Downloads)
- if applicable, declaration on the use of the business address in the context of the registration of vehicles for sole proprietorships and self-employed persons (see Downloads)
- If applicable, notification of special vehicle use, e.g. as a cab or rental vehicle (see downloads)
Please note that in the case of an existing short-term registration for the vehicle, the vehicle registration certificate for short-term license plates and the license plates must be submitted for validation.
Opening hours
Document Pickup - No Appointment Required
You can pick up documents that you have already applied for and are now ready for pickup (passports, ID cards, eID cards, and documents from the driver’s license office) at the front desk during business hours without an appointment.
Other Matters Requiring an Appointment
If you need to visit in person for other matters, you must schedule an appointment. You can do this online or by phone.

The registration authority uses special adhesive seals with special security features for the vehicle documents. This increases the total fees by €0.30 per adhesive seal used.
