Weapons licenses are generally required for the acquisition, possession and carrying of firearms and the acquisition and possession of ammunition. Permits under firearms law include, among others
- Weapons possession cards (WBK: green, yellow and red)
- European firearms pass
- Small firearms license
- Transfer permits
The acquisition and transfer of firearms must be reported within 2 weeks. Please use the application and notification forms (-> Links).
Details
Checking the safe storage of firearms and ammunition
Since 25.07.2009, the weapons authorities - in Thuringia the independent cities and district offices - have been authorized and obliged to check the safe storage of firearms and ammunition at the premises of the holders of weapons permits (cf. § 36 Para. 3 Sentence 2 WaffG).
With immediate effect, the Jena weapons authority will be supported by trained employees in the enforcement service. Like the Weapons Law Department, this is also assigned to the Municipal Order Department. The employees can identify themselves with a photo ID card issued in their name.
