Apply for Jenabonus
Jenabonus holders are entitled to discounts at certain municipal facilities and on public transport fares. Eligible persons receive a Jenabonus stamp card for discounts on local public transport fares in Jena.
The Jenabonus is only valid for residents with their main or sole residence in the city of Jena and their minor children living in the household.

Details
Each family member receives a personal Jenabonus. Authorizations are issued for persons aged 6 and over. For persons over the age of 16, the Jenabonus is only valid in conjunction with a valid federal identity card or passport.
Pupils and young people under the age of 18 receive a mobility ticket for free use of public transport in Jena on presentation of a valid Jenabonus and payment of an administration fee (see links).
Prerequisites
The applicant must belong to one of the following groups of people:
- Recipients of benefits according to SGB XII (assistance for living expenses, basic security, assistance for care)
- Recipients of benefits in accordance with SGB II and the non-employable members of the community of need or household who do not themselves receive benefits in accordance with SGB II
- Recipients of a child allowance in accordance with § 6a of the Federal Child Benefit Act and children living in the household
- Old-age pensioners with entitlement to housing benefit
- Disability pensioners with entitlement to housing benefit
- Recipients of benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act
- Pupils who receive BAföG
- Trainees who receive a vocational training allowance
Validity
The Jenabonus is valid for one year from the date of issue. The Jenabonus card must be returned to the Citizens' Service if the conditions for entitlement cease to apply.

Application
Apply for the Jenabonus online
You can easily apply for and renew theJenabonus online. The Jenabonus card will be sent to you by post free of charge.
Personal visit with prior appointment
Applications can be made in person or by an authorized person at the Citizens' Service Office by prior appointment (see opening hours). The currently valid documents (see documents) must be presented at the Citizens' Service Office. Once the requirements have been checked, a Jenabonus card will be issued immediately.

- Notification of benefits according to SGB XII
- Benefit notification for benefits according to SGB II
- Notification of benefits for the applicant's entitlement to housing benefit in conjunction with the notification of benefits for basic security benefits under SGB II of the person with whom the applicant lives in a household community
- Notification of receipt of a child supplement in accordance with § 6a of the Federal Child Benefit Act
- Benefit notification of the old-age pensioner/EU pensioner with entitlement to housing benefit
- Notice of benefit according to the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act
- Notice of benefit according to the BAföG
- Notice of benefit according to SGB III (vocational training allowance)
Opening hours
Document Pickup - No Appointment Required
You can pick up documents that you have already applied for and are now ready for pickup (passports, ID cards, eID cards, and documents from the driver’s license office) at the front desk during business hours without an appointment.
Other Matters Requiring an Appointment
If you need to visit in person for other matters, you must schedule an appointment. You can do this online or by phone.

The Jenabonus card is issued free of charge.
