Apply for Jenabonus

Inhaber des Jenabonus haben Anspruch auf Ermäßigung in bestimmten städtischen Einrichtungen und bei den Tarifen der öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel. Für die Ermäßigungen der Tarife des Jenaer Nahverkehrs erhalten Berechtigte eine Jenabonus-Stempelkarte.

Der Jenabonus ist nur für Einwohner mit Hauptwohnsitz oder alleinigem Wohnsitz in der Stadt Jena und deren im Haushalt lebenden minderjährigen Kindern gültig.

Sie können den Jenabonus formlos per E-Mail beantragen.

Pupils and young people who are not yet 18 years old continue to receive a mobility ticket for free use of public transport in Jena on presentation of a valid Jenabonus and payment of an administrative fee. (see links).

Requirements

Eligible are those persons who meet one of the following requirements:

  • old-age and disability pensioners with entitlement to housing benefit
  • Recipients of a child allowance according to § 6a of the Federal Child Allowance Act (Bundeskindergeldgesetz)
  • Recipients of benefits according to the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act (Asylbewerberleistungsgesetz)
  • Recipients of benefits according to SGB II
  • inactive members of joint households who do not receive benefits according to SGB II
  • recipients of social welfare benefits who are accommodated in a home
  • Social welfare recipients/recipients of basic security benefits
  • Pupils who receive BAföG
  • Trainees who receive vocational training allowance

Validity

The Jenabonus is valid for one year from the date of issue. If the conditions for entitlement cease to apply, the Jenabonus card must be returned to the Citizen Service Centre.

Upon presentation of all supporting documents, the Jenabonus card will be issued and handed out immediately.

  • Notification of receipt of a child supplement in accordance with § 6a of the Federal Child Benefit Act (Bundeskindergeldgesetz)
  • Benefit notification of the old-age pensioner / EU pensioner with entitlement to housing benefit
  • Benefit notification of the recipient of benefits according to SGB II
  • Benefit notification of the social welfare recipient with home accommodation
  • Benefit notification of the social welfare recipient / basic security recipient
  • Notification of benefits according to the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act
  • Notification of benefits according to BAföG
  • Notification of benefits according to SGB III

Document issue - without an appointment

Documents that have already been applied for and are now ready for collection (passport, ID card and eID card as well as documents from the driving license authority) can be collected from reception during opening hours without an appointment.

An appointment must be booked for personal visits for other matters. This can be done online(link is external) or by telephone.
