Job search after successful completion of studies

After successfully completing their studies, foreigners can have their residence permit extended for up to 18 months in order to look for a job appropriate to their degree, provided it can be filled by foreigners. The residence permit entitles the holder to pursue gainful employment during this period.

Looking for a job after successfully completing qualified vocational training

After the successful completion of qualified vocational training, the residence permit can be extended for up to one year in order to look for a job appropriate to this qualification, provided that it can be filled by foreigners. The residence permit entitles the holder to pursue gainful employment during this period.

The Immigration Office of the City of Jena has changed its processing procedures. In order to shorten waiting times for appointments and residence permits, all applications will in future be checked without a personal appointment. It is therefore no longer necessary to book a personal appointment.
