Residence permit - EU Blue Card

The EU Blue Card residence permit is limited in time. It is valid for up to four years. If the employment relationship is to last for less than four years, the EU Blue Card will be issued for the duration of the employment contract plus three months. The job offer must provide for a period of employment of at least 6 months.

The requirements include

• German university degree, recognized foreign university degree or foreign university degree comparable to a German university degree
• a job corresponding to the qualification with a minimum annual income of € 48,300 for the year 2025 (€ 43,759.80 for certain bottleneck occupations and for skilled workers who obtained their university degree no more than three years before applying for the EU Blue Card)

In the case of planned employment as a manager in the provision of services in the field of information and communication technology or as an academic and comparable specialist in information and communication technology, a university degree may be waived under certain conditions. This requires, among other things, proof of at least three years of professional experience in this profession over the last seven years.

• University degree
• In the case of a foreign degree: Proof of its recognition in Germany
• Concrete job offer (declaration of employment completed by the employer)
• Wage or salary statement (if already available)
• Signed instruction sheet
