Family Counseling

In the event of family crises or conflicts, those involved are supported in recognizing the different needs of individual family members, better identifying relationship patterns and their effects within the family, and mobilizing their own resources to develop solutions for their own family based on these new perspectives and experiences.

Counseling can help identify ways to foster greater satisfaction in your relationships.

The following topics, for example, can be addressed:

  • living together as partners and with mutual respect withinthe family
  • Finding new ways to manage conflicts and crises withinthe family
  • Raising awareness of relationship patterns within the familyand their effects
  • Creating or maintaining conditions that support the development ofevery family member
  • Raising awareness of the different needs of family members
  • (Re)discovering the strengths and abilities of each individual

The counseling services are free of charge and confidential, and are intended for parents, children, adolescents, young adults (up to age 21), and family members residing in Jena. The counseling professionals are bound by confidentiality, including with respect to all other departments of the Youth Welfare Office.

Advice is given by appointment. Appointments are best made by telephone or e-mail. The family counseling service offers an open consultation hour on Tuesdays from 08:00 to 10:00, during which counseling is possible without an appointment.

An answering machine is available during consultation hours.
