Der Hundehalter hat jeden über 3 Monate alten Hund innerhalb von 2 Wochen nach Erreichen dieser Altersgrenze, Aufnahme in den Haushalt oder Zuzug ins Stadtgebiet Jena beim Team Gemeindesteuern persönlich oder schriftlich anzumelden. Das Halten von Hunden ist steuerpflichtig.
Details
A dog tag is issued with the registration, which must be visibly attached to the dog's collar and presented to the control staff of the city of Jena upon request.
- If the tag is lost, you will receive a replacement tag.
- Please inform us immediately of any changes of name or address in person, in writing or by telephone.
Unterlagen
The following evidence must be submitted for registration:
- Date of acquisition or addition to Jena.
- Date of litter or age; breed, sex and colour as well as name of the dog (proof e.g. by presentation of vaccination certificate or other documents)
- Origin of the animal (information on the previous owner, possibly animal transfer contract)

Gebühren/Steuern
The keeping of dogs for the purpose of private living on the territory of the city of Jena is taxed. Dangerous dogs are subject to special taxation. The exact regulations can be found in the statutes on the collection of dog tax in the city of Jena.

The dog tax is payable in quarterly instalments on 15.02., 15.05., 15.08. and 15.11. of each year. It is also possible to choose the annual payment method.
