
Settlement permit - children
In contrast to the residence permit, the settlement permit (Section 35 of the Residence Act) is an unlimited residence title. It entitles the holder to pursue gainful employment.
Details
The requirements are fulfilled if:
- e n t h e foreigner has been in possession of a residence permit in the federal territory for 5 years at the time of his/her 16th birthday,
- or the foreigner is of legal age and has been in possession of a residence permit in Germany for 5 years,
- t h e i r livelihood is secured (no receipt of public benefits),
- or he/she is undergoing training leading to a recognized school or vocational qualification or a university degree,
- there is no interest in deporting him/her (e.g. due to criminal offenses),
- they have sufficient knowledge of the German language

- Suitable proof of income (e.g. payslip for the last three months, last income tax assessment notice, bank statements, employment contract)

Please make an appointment in advance using the online appointment(link is external) system.
To be able to make an appointment, you must be registered as a resident of Jena.
Register with the appointment ID
You will be allocated an appointment ID with your appointment. If you are not on time, the appointment will be canceled. Half an hour before the appointment, you can register at the multilingual registration terminal at the Foreigners' Registration Office using your appointment ID. You do not need to take a ticket!
Appointment confirmation is considered a fictitious certificate
If the appointment is chosen via our online appointment system, you will receive a fictitious certificate with the binding appointment confirmation, which you can print out. This fictitious certificate is valid in Germany and bridges the time until the appointment.
